Getting paid
Payout wallets, identity verification, Won't Fix obligations, and claiming directly from an on-chain vault.
1. Verify a payout wallet
Rewards are only paid to a wallet you've proven you control. In Security & settings → Payout wallets, connect your wallet and sign a short message. The signature proves ownership; it costs no gas and sends no transaction. You can link several wallets and choose which one receives payouts.
2. Verify your identity (when required)
Identity verification is required:
- for payouts at or above the platform threshold (default $10,000), and
- wherever a program's locked rules require KYC.
Start in Security & settings → Identity verification. Our provider handles your ID document and liveness check. Proofline stores only the result, never your documents.
KYC can hold a payment, but never cancels it:
- While you complete verification, the reward stays owed, and the wait doesn't count against the project.
- A sanctions-screening result can legally block a payment. Your finding still stays valid on your record.
When a reward becomes payable
| Situation | Payable from |
|---|---|
| The fix passes your retest | The retest |
| The project records Won't Fix | The Won't Fix decision |
A project may decide not to remediate, for example because it's migrating contracts. That doesn't change whether you did the work the bounty promised. Validity, the reward obligation and remediation are separate questions, and your Casefile shows all three.
The program's payout SLA (e.g. 14 days) starts at that moment. Overdue payouts show publicly on the program's track record.
On-chain vaults: claim it yourself
Programs with a ProoflineVault hold rewards on-chain. When your reward becomes payable, Proofline signs an obligation that names your wallet, the exact amount and a due date. Your Casefile shows it under On-chain obligation.
- The project normally pays with one transaction from the vault.
- If the due date passes and the project hasn't paid, you can claim directly with Claim from vault. The project's approval isn't needed.
- The Casefile also gives you a ready-made
castcommand, so you can claim even if Proofline were offline. The signature is yours.
The vault only pays the attested wallet the attested amount, and the project can't withdraw funds that are owed. See Payout vaults.
Fees
Researchers never pay Proofline. The platform fee is billed to the project on top of your reward.
